Giant Panda and sometimes many people often call Panda, is an animal that has the scientific name Ailuropoda melanoleuca. Animals in the same family as bears, which are friends, namely the Ursidae family.

Animals have a maximum length of approximately 1.7 meters, or their body weight can reach around 130 kg.

Physically, this animal has a large and stocky body shape, with a long muzzle or round ears.

This animal's fur is creamy white, and black on the legs, feet, shoulders, ears, nose, and in both areas around the eyes. Animals in Subtropical Forests in mountainous areas, especially Bamboo Forests.

The main food of this animal is bamboo. Although almost 90% of its diet is bamboo, it also eats small mammals, eggs and birds.

The first interesting fact is that although almost 90% of its food is bamboo, in taxonomy it is classified as a carnivore.

This is because Pandas are still in the same family as Bears which are carnivorous animals, besides that the digestive system in Pandas is for digesting meat.

can Panda Carnivorous Animals but the food is Bamboo?

The answer is the Evolution factor, so before this animal its main food was meat. Then, about two million years ago, this animal changed its diet to consume bamboo.

The part of the bamboo that Panda likes is the shoot, this is because it contains a lot of protein and is low in fiber.

Pandas spend approximately 16 hours eating very large amounts of bamboo, because generally carnivorous animals require very high protein requirements, or these animals tend to be lazy because of the abundance of bamboo trees.

The second interesting fact is that the color of panda fur is used to help it camouflage and communicate with each other.

The white fur color is used for winter, while the black color hides behind the bamboo groves.

The fact that Panda looks like an animal that has a gentle nature or is used as a symbol of bringing peace or harmony, especially for Chinese society.

Its conservation status by the IUCN Giant Panda is "Vunerable" which means Vulnerable. due to the threat of habitat destruction, also because these animals have problems in breeding. is that Panda can only take care of one baby and can't take care of more than one baby.

This is because the mother panda only has milk and limited energy to take care of only one child.
