KNOWING PACET MOUNTAIN, SHANG LE KONG ATTACKS THE FEET

Yupps, his name is Pacet. Just like Worms, Pacet is an Intervetebrate animal from the phylum Annelida, and comes from the genus Haemadipsa. then in the family Haemadipsidae, there are 16 Pacet species.

And in this post, I will discuss about one of its species, namely Pacet Gunung, or in its scientific name it is called Haemadipsa zeylanica.

The body of the pacifier itself is generally dark brown, speckled, and striped. Pacet itself has a length of 2 to 5 cm. then, the shape of the body is flat and elongated. has two suckers located in the anterior which is located in the mouth, and the posterior which is located in the anus. and has three jaws in the mouth and each in each jaw has a small tooth.

The two suction devices have the same function, namely to attach their body to the animal or human being to be sucked. Pacet can also swim by waving the body.

Oh yes, this animal has a segmented body so that it can be elongated and shortened.

The habitat of these animals is usually found on moist land such as bushes, grasses, leaves and trees.

This animal food in addition to blood, also usually eats small invertebrates such as worms, small snails, and insect larvae.

Bro, why is it that when bitten by a leech sometimes it doesn't hurt, even the blood keeps flowing?

Yupps, because Pacet Gunung's saliva not only contains anesthetic, it also contains Hirudin which is an anticoagulant that prevents blood from clotting. So that's what keeps the blood flowing and keeps coming out.

And usually Pacet gunung will release its bite when it is full and its body is fat.

The way to prevent it from being bitten by the mountain pacet is to use thick socks if necessary, wear a gaiter (socks and calf protector), secondly, wear long sleeves and long pants, and lastly, don't lean on anything while in the forest.

Then, if you have been bitten by the mountain pacet, you can apply mosquito repellent lotion. Because anti-mosquito lotion, besides being able to prevent insect bites, it can also release the bites of mountain pacifiers.

Unique facts Pacet gunung is a hermaphrodite animal, aka multiple sexes. So they can reproduce on their own without the help of the opposite sex.

What's the difference between Pacet and Leech?

Well, pacet and leech are not differentiated based on the taxonomy, and only in Indonesia alone Pacet and leech have differences.

The difference is that Pacet is usually found in grass, trees, shrubs and foliage. Meanwhile, leeches are usually found in water such as rivers and swamps.

And finally, leeches can be used in medicine to treat blood clots, and phlebotomy therapy, which is therapy for removing dirty blood.

Usually, what is used for medicine is the Medical Leech Species (Hirudo medicinalis). Meanwhile, Pacet is rarely used in the medical world.
