Differences Appendix and protected animals

I often hear that many people are confused and think that protected animals or plants are appendix, especially for hobbyists.

Yupps, here I want to clarify to my friends that, Appendix and Protected are different.

First of all we have to know what is an Appendix?

Citex stands for "Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora"

It is an international treaty that has been in force since 1975.

The main objective of CITES is to provide protection and supervision of wild plant and animal species against international trade, aka International Trade.

And the Appendix is a list of animal and plant species that are under CITES supervision.

In the Appendix list there are three groups, namely Appendix 1, Appendix 2, and Appendix 3.

Appendix 1 contains a list of all wild plant and animal species that are prohibited in all forms of international trade. Headquarters Geneva Switzerland.

Appendix II Lists species that are not threatened with extinction, but may be threatened with extinction if trade continues without regulation.

appendix III is a list of protected wild plant and animal species in certain countries and the boundaries of their habitat areas, and at any time their ranking may be raised to appendix II or appendix I.

For example, the Sumatran tiger is a protected animal and is included in Appendix 1, so it is prohibited to be traded for any reason, especially between countries.

For example, the King Cobra, is not a protected animal but has an Appendix 2 status. So, it can be kept but not traded indiscriminately between countries.

While protected animals and plants are the list of species that are legally protected by the state and the list is included in PERMEN LHK NO 106 of 2018.

In conclusion, all Animal and Plant Species are Appendixes, but the Appendixes are not necessarily animals that are legally protected by the State.
